Kristen Slater
Medical Director, DVM
Dr. Slater joins Priority Pet Urgent Care as an owner with over 20 years experience in veterinary medicine. She is a graduate of Michigan State University College and has practiced throughout the Midwest and south since graduating. Dr. Slater has experience not only in general medicine but has been working in emergency medicine for over 6 years. She brings not only decades of clinical experience to Priority Pet Urgent care but a deep commitment to compassionate care in high pressure situations, offering both pets and their families clarity and comfort when it most matters. Her household is full of furry love of her rescue pets, including her five dogs, two cats and two horses. Outside of the clinic Dr. Slater stays active as a competitive equestrian enjoying the sport of Dressage with her horses. She also enjoys gardening, nature photography, and time on the water. Dr. Slater also volunteers a lot of her time to different animal welfare causes such as a veterinary investigation and response team, Texas A&M disaster relief response team, and has even assisted in Sea Turtle/Marine mammal rescue as well as has assisted in large animal response efforts after Hurricanes Katrina, Ivan and Harvey, among others.
